Hello everyone and welcome to the 2014 Fall release for Luceant Winery and Luminesce. We are now releasing two Pinots from our Soil Series Selection, the Sol Du Sable from Presqui'le Vineyard and our Sol Du Argile from Laetitia Vineyard. Also the 2012 Presqu'ile Vineyard Pinot Noir ( 92 points Antonio Galloni of Vinous ) and the 2011 Syrah from Thompson Vineyard - which might be our best effort to date with a 93 point score from Vinous. Our Soil Series Selections are designed to capture each vineyard at it's zenith. These micro blends represent what we feel are exciting examples of what a vineyard can do given optimum conditions - such as the 2012 vintage.
On all orders totaling $300 or more, you can redeem a 15% discount by using the word DISCOUNT in the coupon window during the checkout process.
On a side note, some of you may or may not be aware but our winery name will be changing. Unfortunately, living in these aggressive times of copyrights and trademarks, we had to relinquish our name Luminesce. Please be aware that nothing has changed, just the name. With each vintage we strive to produce the highest quality wine by picking at optimum ripeness from carefully selected vineyard rows and blocks. The same people and vineyards, including a few new ones, are still and always will be the main fabric of this winery. There will be a few transitions as we introduce some new and exciting projects and labels - starting with our 2012 wines. Our new winery name will be Luceant.
2012 CHARDONNAY SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
2012 was a plentiful year with very high quality, making this wine quite fun to make. It is comprised of three different vineyards mostly from Santa Barbara County. Drink this white over the summer months, and the Talley Rincon Chardonnay in the fall.
2012 CHARDONNAY TALLEY RINCON VINEYARD
This is our first vintage with Talley, and we are extremely happy to add this to our portfolio. The Chardonnay is brilliant in color with a greenish hue and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. 50% new French oak was utilized which adds a complex array of exotic spice, with rich and concentrated flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, and a long mineral finish. Balanced, intense, and focused, this wine will develop further with age.

2012 PINOT NOIR SOL DU ARGILE
The clay soils of Laetitia Vineyard brought forth a wonderful expression of spice, violets, new leather and black cherry. 50% new French oak and 50% whole cluster fermentation balanced out the blend nicely for this 30 case lot. The aromatics of this wine soar from the glass adding to a more complex drinking experience.
2012 PINOT NOIR SANTA MARIA VALLEY
Our Santa Maria Valley blend this year is primarily from the Presqu'ile Vineyard. The River Bench Vineyard, all Martini clone, makes up the balance at 30%. This wine has developed nicely in bottle and will drink perfectly now and over the next 3-6 years.
2012 PINOT NOIR LAETITIA VINEYARD
Arroyo Grande Valley is one of my favorite regions for Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. Uniquely different from Santa Maria, the clay soils of Laetitia provide a richness and depth to the wine.

2012 PINOT NOIR SOL DU RIVIERE
This is the first release of three Soil Series Selections from some of the Pinot Noir Vineyards we work with. Sometimes everything will align perfectly - from the vineyard to the fermenter, and finally to the barrel that was selected.

2011 PINOT NOIR LAETITIA VINEYARD RESERVE
The barrels that were selected for this reserve bottling stood out above the others from the beginning. While still retaining the classic Laetitia Vineyard aromatics of Asian spices, the wine is reminiscent of a bolder styled Russian River Pinot.
2011 PINOT NOIR LAETITIA VINEYARD
This vineyard's dark volcanic clay soils bring out unique flavors very different from most Pinot Noir vineyards. We decided on 35% whole cluster fermentation and 25% new Francois Freres barrels for the final blend. .
2011 PINOT NOIR PRESQU'ILE VINEYARD
This wine is remarkably elegant and highly perfumed, with complex aromatics of red fruit, dried herbs, cola and a hint of smoke. It will continue to develop further in bottle as the fruit, tannins, and acid integrate.
2012 PINOT NOIR PRESQU'ILE VINEYARD
The 2012 Presqu'ile Vineyard Pinot Noir is a beautiful expression of Central Coast Pinot Noir. The vintage allowed us to use a large percentage of whole cluster during fermentation, about 75%, which added a wonderful tannic backbone to the pallet and a racy minty aromatic. By increasing the oak to about 50% new, all three year air dried barrels, we brought forth a softer element from the barrels with less impact. "Rose petals, sweet berries, pomegranate and orange peel meld into the resonant, expressive finish". 92 point Vinous.
2011 SEMILLON BUTTONWOOD VINEYARD
This exotic white has all the minerality of the 2010 but more clarity of flavors. This is a very refreshing and pleasant wine with aromatics of orange blossoms, ripe lemon, and a deceptively rich finish.
2011 SYRAH THOMPSON VINEYARD
This 100% Syrah from Thompson Vineyard was aged 20 months in all neutral barrels and is impeccably balanced. The 30% whole cluster fermentation gives the wine lift and persistence with a long gorgeous finish. Antonio Galloni wrote " A rush of blue/blackish fruit, smoke, new leather, spice, menthol and violets hits the pallet in the 2011 Syrah Thompson Vineyard. Rich, juicy and extroverted to the core." 93 points Vinous.
2012 PINOT NOIR SOL DU SABLE
For this project we decided on 100% whole cluster fermentation and 100% new oak. The wine yielded only 30 cases from a few selected rows in the older section of Presqu'ile Vineyard. The selected rows were farmed at or near 2 tons to the acre and by shoot thinning and dropping fruit we intensified the flavors. We love this wine on it's aromatics alone. A little bigger and more exotic than the regular bottling, it will benefit from more time in the cellar to allow for the 100% new oak to integrate.
Luminesce has slowly built up a very complete library of all the wines we have made since the inaugural release of our 2006 vintage. If there is an older wine that you’ve enjoyed in the past and might be sold out, just give us an email and we might be able to find you a bottle for a special occasion.
